JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail? Lola: I think the guards are aware of everything, and
it is pretty safe. Your loved ones are in good
hands if they follow the rules, and hang on
until their release. Eve: If you are going to visit, try to get there early
as the lines can be long. Visits are 30 minutes
long and only 1 person can go back at a time
unless you split the visit and 1 person goes back
and then the other. Have your photo ID and a
second form of ID like a social security card,
insurance card, ACCESS card, birth certificate,
etc. Women - do not wear anything shorter than
mid-thigh or they will send you home! You cannot
bring anything in to them, such as shoes, clothes,
etc. There are special days and times for
children to visit and it's only the child of the
inmate allowed with proof (it has to be a birth
certificate - they don't accept anything else any
more). Pat: no
JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them? Lola: Again, stick to yourself, use the time for self
healing. Eve: If you have a medical problem, you have to put in
a request slip to be seen by medical unless it's
an emergency. Don't expect the guards or anyone
else to respond quickly to anything you request.
Usually the guards are respectful if you are to
them; but they're used to dealing with a-holes so
they might have an attitude sometimes with you.
Keep your cool. You will get more information
from asking other inmates than you will from
asking the guards. Read over the handbook but it
definitely doesn't cover everything. You kind of
learn as you go. Pat: no
JM: Please list any other jail or rehab facilities you have been to. Eve: None. Pat: none
